Terminology Used in this Site

Types of mailings.

• Customer: Where the mail receiver and advertiser have an existing relationship. The mail receiver may have purchased from the advertisers previously or they may hold an account / membership with the advertiser.
   * Example: A bank customer may have a credit card with the bank and is now being offered a deal to join the wine club.
• Essential: (Transactional / statements) The mail received includes a transactional account statement plus other communications e.g. conditions of use, diary of events, response card seeking updated information.
   * Example: Mail from telecommunication finance, insurance, and utilities companies.
• Prospect: Where the mail receiver and the advertising do not have an existing relationship. Key words are: join, subscribe, switch to etc.

Estimates Volume and Expenditure.

An estimate reporting option for volume and expenditure of mail campaigns is now available as a feature of our MailPix website service.
 

Definition: Volume.  

Estimated mail volume refers to how many households have received a mailer based on our weighted panel of 2000 + households around Australia.  

Definition: Expenditure.

Estimated mail expenditure is based on the cost of postage by envelope size, multiplied by the number of weighted panel households that have received the mailer.  

What is included in the estimate of volume and expenditure?

The estimated volume and expenditure includes any mailer that has been received by two households or more. e.g.
•   A customer or prospect mailer offering a newsletter or offers such as a wine offer.
•   A customer or prospect mailer offering for example “how to earn more interest”.

 

What is excluded in the estimates of volume and expenditure?

A mailer received by only one household on our national panel e.g.
•   A renewal of a driver’s license.
•   A renewal of a household insurance policy.
•   Advice that your credit card limit has been increased.
